Today, ZeroKey announces the appointment of Tom Newton as Chief Technology Officer.

Previously, Tom was a founding member of CashCalc, serving as the company’s Chief Technology Officer from launch in 2014 through to their acquisition by FE fundinfo in 2021. During his 7 years with CashCalc, Tom had overall responsibility for the product and developed a variety of tools himself – including the cashflow modeller, which quickly became the UK’s market leading cashflow planning tool.

Following the acquisition of CashCalc, Tom had a spell with FE fundinfo as a Technical Lead, before joining Oxford Risk as their Lead Frontend Developer.

Joseph Williams, co-founder & CEO of ZeroKey, said: “We are delighted to appoint Tom as Chief Technology Officer. Not only is he proven at turning a great idea into a great product during his time with CashCalc, but he is also a great individual contributor. He has a very unique skill set which I know was in high demand, so it’s fantastic he has decided to join us.”

The appointment of Tom Newton will represent the company’s sixth former CashCalc team member, and will see him link up once again with Head of Web-development Matthew Short – who has to date spearheaded the development of ZeroKey.

Joseph Williams said: “Turning great ideas into great products requires a highly skilled team all working together to achieve a common goal. That’s why, from day dot, we’ve been working hard to get the spine of the CashCalc team back together, so we can introduce a fresh approach and accelerate the integration agenda”.

Tom Newton, who will join ZeroKey in September 2024, said: “I’m very excited to join ZeroKey to help tackle one of our profession’s biggest pain points. Matthew Short and the team are experts in creating innovative tools for financial advisers, I’m very impressed with what they have developed so far and I’m looking forward to contributing to such an exciting product.”

The news comes shortly after the company made available its MVP (minimum viable product) to beta users, initially launching with intellilfo as its single source of data. This also included various Quick Actions into FE CashCalc, Fundment, Fintegrate, 7IM, Transact, Oxford Risk, Fidelity and Voyant. Aviva has since been added.
